Punjab government has fetched an amount of over Rs 2 million through auction of attractive registration marks of recently launched 'LZ' series of registration marks in open auction held here on Wednesday.
The auction took place at the office of the Motor Registering Authority (MRA) Lahore under the supervision of MRA Lahore Ahmed Saeed and Superintendent Excise & Taxation Department Chaudhry Mohammad Saleem.
According to sources, out of a total of 136 attractive registration marks of 'LZ' series, 133 marks were contested. The highest bid of Rs 161,000 was received for LZ-1, while second highest offer of Rs 100,000 came for LZ-786. Similarly, LZ-7 fetched Rs 66,000, LZ-5 Rs 65,000, LZ-111 Rs 51,000 and LZ-555 Rs 28,000.
According to them, the auction policy framed by the government was contributing significantly to the national exchequer. Due to strict supervisory control of Secretary Excise & Taxation Punjab, Sami Saeed, transparency has been ensured in the auction process.
