Abbas elected Senate panel chairman

Senator Mohammad Amjad Abbas was unanimously elected the chairman, Senate Standing Committee on food, agriculture and livestock at a meeting of the Committee held in the Parliament House on Thursday.
Senate Secretary Shahid Iqbal conducted the election of the chairman of the Senate Standing Committee.
Senators Shuja-ul-Mulk and Wali Muhammad Badini proposed the name of Senator Mohammad Amjad Abbas for the chairmanship, which was seconded by Malik Ajmal Khan, Federal Minister for Local Government and Rural Development, and all the members of the Committee present in the meeting.
Those who attended the meeting included Senators Shuja-ul-Mulk, Mohammad Ajmal Khan, Mrs Kalsoom Perveen, Mir Wali Mohammad Badini, Dr Azizullah Satakzai, Syed Murad Ali Shah and Raza Mohammad Raza.
After the election of the chairman, the members of the Committee congratulated Senator Mohammad Amjad Abbas on his unopposed election to the slot, and assured him of their full co-operation.
Senator Abbas thanked the members for reposing confidence in him, and assured them that he would work with team spirit, and try to make it an effective body.
He hoped that the members would make meaningful contribution during the meeting of the Committee.
