Muhammad Ashiq, manager of PPPP leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi, was shot dead by his opponents in Budha Sant (Multan) on Tuesday. The killers were identified as Sabir Hussain, Ijaz Ahmed and Abdul Razzaq.
"Muhammad Ashiq was pursuing a case No 72/2004. The people against whom he was fighting the case had threatened him of dire consequences if he did not desist from helping their opponents, but he did not lend ear to the threat. On Tuesday when Ashiq was going to his duty, three attackers opened fires as a result of which he died on the spot," police said.
"We have registered a case against three persons Sabir Hussain, Ijaz Ahmed and Abdul Razzaq on the report of Ashiq's brother," police said.
However, no arrest has made so far because the attackers had fled away after killing him. Mehmood expressed grave concern and grief on the murder of his manager and said that the present regime had failed to protect the life and property of the people. He demanded for immediate arrest of the killers.
