The Sarhad Hydel Development Organisation (Shydo) on Tuesday offered the provision of 12 mw electricity to the industrialists of the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estates (Gaie) from the Pehur hydro power project.
The offer was made during a meeting of senior Shydo officials and industrialists at the Sarhad Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI), while Chamber Executive Committee member Zahidullah Khan Shinwari was in the chair. However, the industrialists expressed reservations over the offer.
During the meeting, Shydo Director (planning) Bahadar Shah said the provincial government wanted to provide 12 mw electricity through the Pehur Hydro Power Project to the industrial units of the Gadoon Amazai Industrial Estates, adding although the total capacity of the project is 18 mw, but practically the project could provide 12 mw.
Bahadar Shah also informed the industrialists that the project would be completed at the cost of Rs 927.498 million would be completed in 30 months. He, however, said besides provision of electricity from the project, the government is also considering providing electricity to the industrial estates from Gadoon-Amazai grid station.
Zahidullah Khan Shinwari, who was presiding the meeting, told the Shydo officials that majority of the industrial units in Gadoon Amazai are textile units, which consume about 50 mw electricity. He, however, said the electricity generated from the Pehur Hydro Power Project would be provided to small and sick industrial units.
They decided that another meeting would be convened to prepare further strategy in this connection.
