'NBP committed to lead banking industry'

The National Bank of Pakistan (NBP) is committed to lead the banking industry in the country and kept its standard up to the world level, Bank President Ali Raza said here on Tuesday.
He said the bank would take up drastic action to lift the standards of branches and bring them at par with the international standards.
He was addressing as the chief guest at a function held at the NBP for distribution of confirmation letters of first branch of management trainees hired by the bank in 2003.
The occasion marked successful completion of one-year rigorous training programme by the management trainees who are now integrated into the field offices of the bank.
He said the upgradation of branches would take at least two years but then it would excel in their working and presentations.
He quoted a number of statistics to prove that Pakistan's banking industry is moving on from traditional lines into a highly competitive format and the NBP would set banking standards which would be competitive to global banking standards.
Ali Raza praised the quality of the bank's HR, which it hopes will transform and makes NBP a leading bank globally.
