Kidnapping for ransom

14 Jul, 2004

I invite the attention of the powers-that-be to an "Appeal" in the press by Sohail Ahmed Saqib. He has made this appeal for the release of M. Naeem, Chief Executive of Shahnawaz (Pvt) Ltd. The contribution of Shahnawaz Group to the business of Pakistan is not only known to the business circles in Pakistan but also abroad.
It is a pity that such a noble person, an Old Ravian, who qualified for the Civil Service of Pakistan and then opted to join family business, who is even not a bank defaulter, is in the clutches of kidnappers, made hostage since 11th June 2004, and there is no action against those who kidnap people for ransom. As a matter of fact kidnapping for ransom has become a profession to earn easy money and that too without paying income tax.
The Law Enforcement Agencies must come into action to get M. Naeem, the Chief Executive of Shahnawaz Ltd, released from the clutches of the kidnappers to restore the confidence of not only the business community, but also the people of Pakistan.
