Work on Pasrur protection bund in full swing

Punjab Power Minister Chaudhry Armughan Subhani has said that fool-proof flood protection plan costing Rs 82.572 million has been initiated for protecting Tehsil Pasrur from devastation of Nullah Dek floods.
He said this 13-km-long protection bund would be completed in two months on August 14 which would not only protect 8,000 acres of agricultural land, but also save 150 villages from the threats of flood.
Addressing a big public meeting held in connection with the inauguration of the grand construction project of Pasrur protection bund on Nullah Dek near village Hunjali along Sialkot-Kingra-Zafarwal Road on Wednesday about 26-km from here, the minister said the present regime was mobilising huge funds to protect low lying areas from threats of flood in the province.
The minister said more than 50 percent construction work of this project had already been completed while brisk development on the project is in full swing.
Subhani reiterated that all available means and resources would be utilised to banish the backwardness of Tehsil Pasrur on top priority basis.
He said the government had focused its attention on the uplift of backward areas as well as to ensure basic amenities to the masses living in far-off and neglected areas aimed at bringing them at par with the developed parts of the province.
Speaking on the occasion, MNA Zahid Hamid said the vast area of the agricultural land and property of the people every year damaged by the floods of seasonal Nullah Dek, adding the protective bund would save the Tehsil Pasrur on permanent basis from the threats of flood.
He said the government was fully aware of the problems and difficulties being faced by the people of Tehsil Pasrur, adding all out efforts were being made to resolve their problems on top priority.
Pasrur Link Division Xen Syed Khadi Hussain Shah and NLC Project Incharge Colonel Maroof, in a briefing, said the 50 percent construction of this protection bund has been completed while it would be completed by August 14 in a record period of two months.Tehsil Pasrur Nazim Chaudhry Maqsood Ahmad said the present government had fulfilled its promise by constructing this protection bund on Naullah Deg in Pasrur Tehsil, as it was the 55 years old strong demand of the villagers.
