Anti-polio drive continues

Three-day nation wide campaign against polio which started on Tuesday is continue for the 2nd consecutive day in all parts of the country.
Government has set 35-million children target under five years for anti-polio vaccination in all parts of the country including Fata, Fana and Azad Kashmir.
District Health Department, Islamabad has given anti-polio drops to 20,000 children in rural areas on the second day of nation wide drive against polio.
In Islamabad and its suburbs 50,000 children are the target to be administered anti-polio drops. During the second day in Islamabad 180 mobile teams of health department are reaching door to door in remote rural areas as well as in Islamabad different sectors, model towns and Kachi Abadies.
In Sindh, full-fledged campaign aims at reaching out 7.8 million children is continue for the 2nd day in order to give them anti-polio drops.
According to the Sindh EPI programme polio teams are actively reaching the children under five in all cities of Sindh including Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkar, Thatta, Badin and all big and small towns, including talukas to give anti-polio vaccines to the children.
In Punjab province the Anti Polio campaign is continue in all the cities and its rural areas. More than 13.04 million, children of five years age are the target in the Punjab province.
Arrangements have also been made at hospitals and health centres so that the no child misses getting polio drops.
According to the reports from Lahore, Faisaiabad, Shikhupura, Multan, Jehlum, Rawalpindi Dera Ghazi Khan etc the polio teams are reaching the children under five at their doorsteps.
In NWFP province, anti-polio campaign has been continued for the second consecutive day and Social Mobilisation Committees are actively participating in the campaign.
Armed Forces are also supplementing the efforts of the government for the eradication of polio in this respect.
Vaccination posts have also been set up on Pakistan-Afghanistan Border in order to administer anti-polio vaccine to the children. According to the reports the mobile teams at the Afghan boarder are giving anti-polio drops to the children under five.
The health officials in NWFP and Balochistan provinces said that these centres were set up to prevent the polio virus on the border area.
In NWFP total 13,307 teams are taking part in the campaign, to give anti-polio drops to 5.012 million children. In the province 338 zonal supervisors were monitoring the campaign.
In Balochistan the polio campaign is in full swing on the second day and the mobile teams in Quetta, Qalat, Dera Bugti, Qilla Saifulla, Muslim Bagh, Zoab, Ziyarat, Jhalmagsi, Dera Murad Jamali, Naseerabad, Khichi etc are active to give anti-polio drops to the children under five.
According to the reports from Azad Kashmir the anti-polio teams were reaching the children at their doorstep and administering the vaccine to them.
According the reports from Muzaffarabad, Kotli, Mirpur, Rawalakot the mobile teams were enthusiastically reaching the children to give anti-polo drops. Thousands of children were given anti-polio drops during the 2nd day of the campaign.
In Northern Areas thousands of children were given anti-polio drops during the second day of the nation-wide campaign against the crippling disease of polio.
