Cancer registry system to be launched in Lahore

Punjab Health Minister Dr Tahir Ali Javed has said that under a pilot project cancer registry system will be launched in Lahore and required funds will be provided for this purpose.
"The government would provide more research facilities to the young doctors of oncology and co-operation of local & international donors would be received for the better registry system in this field."
He expressed these views while addressing the meeting of Tumour Board, which was also attended by Principal Allama Iqbal Medical College, Professor Dr Sibt-ul Hassnain, MS Jinnah Hospital Dr Zahid Pervaiz, Dr Zeba Aziz, Dr Zafar Chaudhry and other members.
The Minister said that government was providing maximum funds for prevention and treatment of cancer.
To achieve the targets all out co-operation and grants would be provided to the teaching hospitals for the functioning of radiation system whereas new radiation machine has been installed at the Mayo Hospital, he added.
