Businessmen team meets Shaukat

Former Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) chairman Iftikhar Malik and Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) President Anjum Nisar along with a delegation of businessmen called on Federal Finance Minister and Prime Minister-in-Waiting Shaukat Aziz here on Wednesday.
The delegation appreciated the economic reforms introduced under President Musharraf's leadership, which have resulted in improvement in economy, increase in investment, upsurge in construction activities and creation of jobs leading to poverty alleviation in the country.
The delegation wished future successes to the finance minister and assured him of full support of business community for building a new Pakistan to join the rank of Asian Tigers.
The delegation said that as a result of favourable policies initiated in the budget, investors' confidence has increased. Also there is an increase in the activities of small and medium enterprises, which has resulted in further buoyancy in the economy.
Shaukat said the business community has a crucial role in the economic growth, creation of jobs and in enabling Pakistan to reach its full potential.
Meanwhile, Hassanabdal City Nazim Sada Shah accompanied by a delegation of notables of the area and labour leaders of Lawrencepur and Sanjowal called on Finance Minister and Prime Minister-in-Waiting Shaukat Aziz here on Wednesday.
The delegation expressed unequivocal support to the finance minister for his upcoming elections in NA-59. They said that it is a great opportunity to build Pakistan and the people of the area feel proud that they have been given a chance to contribute in the effort.
The delegation said that the introduction and implementation of broad-based economic reforms and economic policies by the finance minister under the leadership of President Musharraf have given them a lot of confidence and hope that a brighter future awaits Pakistan.
The finance minister thanked the members of delegation for their support and assured them that he would do his best to address the problems faced by the people of the area.
He said he would work with them for building a future for the current and future generations of Pakistan.
