Pakistan Chemicals and Dyes Merchants Association (PCDMA) Chairman Abdul Rahim Chughtai has urged the Central Board of Revenue (CBR) chairman to amend Clause 25-A of the Customs Act in matter that safeguards the regular importers.
While criticising the Clause 25-A of the Customs Act, he said that it tantamount to throat cutting of commercial importers.
He said that a commercial importer after making hectic efforts in evaluating local requirement and finding most competitive source of procurement import certain items.
In the changing scenario and fluctuating local market or increase of shortage thereof the price may go upward by the time imported cargo reaches the destination.
At this juncture, any one taking the plea of Clause 25-A approaches custom authorities to release him the goods on enhanced price and the customs feel it obligatory to do so under the clause.
