Taiwan buys Australian wheat

17 Jul, 2004

The Taiwan Flour Mills Association said on Friday it had sealed a deal with Australia's AWB Ltd for 17,750 tonnes of hard wheat, its second purchase of Australian wheat this year, said an official at the association.
The order, which will include Australian prime hard wheat (APH) and Australian hard wheat (AH), is slated for shipment between August 15 and September 30, said the official. AWB is Australia's national wheat exporter.
Taiwan buys over 85 percent of its wheat from the United States but makes a couple of smaller purchases from Australia every year when US prices are considered too high.
