The Central Board of Revenue Board-in-Council has directed the tax managers to finalise estimates for different projects to be undertaken for accelerating the ongoing reforms process. It expressed satisfaction over the performance of 'Policy and Tax Reform Wing' in this regard.
CBR Chairman Abdullah Yusuf chaired the Board-in-Council meeting on Saturday in which line and private members were also present.
Sources said here that the Board-in-Council reviewed the progress of reform projects funded by World Bank, while CBR Member Tax Policy and Reforms M.S. Lal gave presentation on the reforms plan.
It was decided that all CBR Members would microscopically go through estimated costs of these projects to judiciously utilise the allocated amount.
Sources said that the Council also agreed to streamline the procedure for proper reconciliation of revenue receipts to avoid variation in figures reported by CBR and other government departments.
The Board was informed that 14 projects relating to CBR would focus on facilitating large and medium taxpaying units, taxpayer education and simplification and automation of refund procedure.
