National Assembly Speaker Amir Hussain is most likely to resign shortly and replaced either by Hamid Nasir Chattha or Riaz Hussain Pirzada, both of PML.
In this connection, sources in Parliament House told Business Recorder that a crucial meeting was held in the Speaker's chamber on Friday.
The meeting, also attended by Prime Minister Shujaat Hussain, took stock of political situation with particular reference to performance of National Assembly and its secretariat, sources said.
"One of the reasons why Amir Hussain is being relieved of his job is his own conduct during the House business," sources said.
The opposition had moved a no-confidence motion against the Speaker last year.
Chattha has been Speaker and is known for his cool temper.
Zafarullah Khan Jamali was also considered for the slot. However, due to stiff opposition, his name was dropped.
In a related development, the Minister of State for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs, Raza Hayat Harraj, has been cautioned to keep his temper under control.
