Bill on Karo-Kari soon, says Shujaat

18 Jul, 2004

A bill on "Karo-Kari" would be introduced soon in the parliament to deal with this menace and those involved in Karo-Kari would be dealt with severely.
Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain has said this while talking to National Assembly member (MNA) Mehnaz Rafi, who along with Dr Ghulam Mustafa Solangi and Dr Amanat Solangi met him here on Saturday.
Terming Karo-Kari as a social evil, which had no place in Islam, he said, the Constitution had taken a serious notice of such cases and vowed to eradicate the menace from the country.
The doctors informed the Prime Minister about the details of a Karo-Kari case in Nowshero Feroze, and said though the police registered their complaint, yet no action was taken against those who abducted the girl.
Chaudhry Shujaat assured his support to the victims, and said that protection of life and property was the basic responsibility of the state, which the government would fulfil at every cost.
