APNS flays deletion of newspaper from media list

President All Pakistan Newspapers Society (APNS) Arif Nizami on Saturday in a letter to Federal Information Secretary has strongly protested over deletion of daily Jinnah, Islamabad from central media list and complete ban on government advertisements.
He said APNS had received a complaint from daily Jinnah, Islamabad alleging that it was deleted from central media list due to its editorial policy and publication of stories about Information Minister.
APNS President said it was negation of press freedom, assurance of President General Pervez Musharraf and guaranteed by Article 19 of the Constitution.
He asked the Secretary Information to inform facts of the case so that APNS Executive Committee may take up the issue.
Meanwhile, Secretary General Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) Jabbar Khattak has said CPNE secretariat received complaint from daily Jinnah, Islamabad regarding its exclusion from central medial list subsequently denial of advertisement.
