After being stranded in London for two days due to fault developing in one of the engines of Boeing 747-300, the passengers of PIA flight PK-756 eventually returned home on Tuesday by a flight.
The special relief plane carrying the passengers touched at Lahore International Airport at 0650 hours on Tuesday morning, said a PIA spokesman.
On learning about the situation, PIA Chairman Ahmad Saeed who happened to be in London, instructed the PIA management to provide maximum facility to the passengers by lodging them in hotels.
The spokesman said the Jumbo plane was still parked at the Heathrow Airport, and is likely to be repaired by the end of the current week.
Upon arrival of the flight in Lahore, PIA Director (Admin) Wasim Ban and the senior management of the Airline received passengers, who were served light snacks, including tea and juices.
PIA Deputy Managing Director Farooq H. Shah flew in especially from Karachi to inspect the arrangements made by the local management regarding immigration and other facilities.
The spokesman also said the Airlines arranged free telephone facility in the arrival lounge so that the passengers could call their family and friends while special assistance desk was established.
The PIA Transport facility was also made available to drop the passengers in the city centre. The Airlines also arranged free transportation service on domestic network for onward connection to the needy passengers.
