Pakistan and Russia on Tuesday agreed to promote co-operation in the field of agriculture, particularly for the construction of silos for wheat storage and manufacturing of tractors in Pakistan.
The issue was decided in a meeting between Food, Agriculture and Livestock Minister Sardar Yar Mohammad Rind and the visiting high-level Russian delegation headed by Kononov Youri, Vice President of VU "Tyazhpromexport," Minister of Economic Development and Trade of the Russian Federation.
The delegation identified avenues to extend co-operation in the field of agriculture especially in the area of storage and transportation facilities of agricultural products in partnership with Pak companies.
It showed special interest in development of Pak-Russia relationship in the field of construction of silos of various capacities safe storage of wheat and other agri produces for a longer time.
Sardar Rind observed that storage and transportation of agricultural products needs to be improved to avoid wastage, and Russia can help Pakistan in this field.
The minister urged the delegation to set up a plant for manufacturing of tractors in Pakistan at low prices.
He thanked the visiting delegation for keen interest in extending co-operation in the field of storage development.
The Russian delegation assured that they would provide maximum co-operation and support in the field of agriculture.
