Technology stocks sagged on Wednesday, as investors locked in some of the previous session's strong gains, but solid earnings from conglomerate United Technologies Corp and J.P. Morgan Chase & Co underpinned blue chips.
Fears that growth in the economy and corporate profits may be slowing kept investors cautious, analysts said.
The Dow Jones industrial average was up 2 points, or 0.02 percent, at 10,151. The Standard & Poor's 500 Index was down 4 points, or 0.40 percent, at 1,104. The technology-laced Nasdaq Composite Index was down 25 points, or 1.28 percent, at 1,893.
