French authorities rushed thousands of tourists out of the Eiffel Tower Wednesday after receiving an anonymous warning of an undisclosed threat, the management of the Paris landmark said.
Around 4,000 people were evacuated from the 324-metre (1,070-foot) structure as a measure "of precaution and security" after "an anonymous message" was received, the company said in a statement.
It did not disclose what the alleged danger was, but said the tower was emptied within 40 minutes of the alarm being raised and police were searching its staircases and three viewing platforms.
