Rs 260 million plan to de-silt Aik Nullah

A comprehensive plan costing Rs 260 million has been prepared for de-silting and stone pitching of seasonal Aik Nullah passing through the middle of Sialkot, said Sialkot District Nazim Mian Naeem Javed.
Talking to media men here on Friday, he added that after de-silting of the Aik Nullah the capacity of flowing of water would be increased to 40,000 from 20,000 cusecs and ultimately it would reduce the threats of overflowing of water during the flood season.
Replying to a question Naeem Javed said that each of 122 union councils of the district would get three water filtration plants. However, he revealed that as many as 90 water filtration plants were being established in different urban areas of Sialkot, Daska and Pasrur tehsils of the district.
The Nazim said that step has been taken for providing hygienic potable water to the masses of three tehsils of the district, adding that the establishment of water filtration plants would reduce the threats of stomach diseases and dehydration etc as well as lessen the pressure on hospitals.
