Following the directives by the Deputy Postmaster General, special arrangements have been made to handle the rush of vehicle owners intending to deposit token tax at the General Post Office, Rawalpindi.
According to Chief Postmaster Ghazanfar Mahmood Azhar, around 20,000 vehicle owners deposit token tax at GPO annually and their number is increasing every year.
He said that 50 per cent of the tax depositors visit GPO from July to September, so the number of counters has been increased to facilitate them with posting of additional staff to receive token receipts.
The Chief Postmaster said that the owners having vehicles of more than 10 years of old model could receive 25 percent discount while others could benefit from 10 percent concession on payment of token tax by July 31.
