IT sector being facilitated for investment

Pakistan was fully facilitating and enabling the growth of Information Technology (IT) sector for the promotion of IT, which provides tremendous opportunities and is open for investment.
This was stated by Minister for Privatisation and Investment, Dr Hafeez Shaikh during a meeting with the visiting leader of a delegation of the world's largest chip manufacturers, Intel Corporation's Vice-President John Davies, here on Friday.
The Minister hoped the company would play its role in strengthening and further developing the local IT industry by expanding their operations in Pakistan.
The government was committed to the transfer of latest technologies for the economic development and progress of the country, he said.
Lauding Pakistan efforts for the promotion of the IT sector, Davies said his company would continue to play its substantial role in Pakistan to enable the market to supporting the industry by providing leading edge technology products to local market at the same time when they were made available internationally.
He informed that on the educational front under Intel Pakistan's program "Intel Teach to the Future", over 70,000 teachers had been successfully trained, which spoke volumes for Intel's commitment to incorporate technology into nation's existing educational set-up.
The visit would help in assessing further opportunities for Intel in Pakistan, he said.
