At least eight people, including a woman were killed and other four women and an infant were seriously injured during a shootout between Solangi and Jagirani near Machyoon Police outpost at early hours of Sunday.
According to details, over 60 armed persons of Jagirani tribe at about 0300 hours on Sunday attacked on village Bhutt near Machyoon Wada in the jurisdiction of Pir jo Goth Police station.
They opened fire upon the house of Gulbahar Solangi resulted in the immediate death of seven persons including a woman while an other was seriously injured.
The deceased included as Gulbahar Solangi, Yousaf Solangi, Shareef Solangi, Murad Solangi, Noor Mohammad Solangi, and Mst Zuhra.
The Jagirani people claimed that first Solangi attacked Jagiranis near Kotpull in the jurisdiction of Barbarloi police station killing one Saeed Jagirani and four women, including Salma Jagirani, Nihalan Jagirani and an infant Afrooz were seriously injured. The injured were admitted to Civil Hospital Khairpur.
Meanwhile, DPO (Investigation) Abdul Ahed Sangri, who is also acting DPO Khairpur, getting aware of the situation rushed to the site and arrested 100 persons on suspicion of both tribes.
Khairpur District Nazim Nafees Shah and Khairpur Public Safety Commission Chairman Ghulam Abbas Bhambro in their statements alleged that they had approached the police administration for taking early preventive measures to avoid any untoward happening but police didn't take any action.
The corpses have been handed over to heirs after autopsy. Police is investigating. Severe panic is prevailing in the area.
