Three officers of the Kohinoor Industries were burnt alive in a bid to save mill's 50-year-old record, when a huge fire broke out in a Section No 5 here on Sunday morning.
The whole record was completely reduced to ashes as well as the building also collapsed due to severe fire.
The cause of the fire was not immediately known, however, the fire was so violent that fire fighters of various fire brigade stations of the city could extinguish the blaze after the hectic efforts of seven hours.
During the attempt to save the mills record, Kohinoor Industries Chief Security Officer Major Anjum Raza (Retd), Security Inspector Rana Abdul Latif and Accounts Officer Farrukh Sohail entered the burning building and were burnt alive.
Eye witnesses said the workers of the mills informed the city fire brigade, who reached the site of the fire immediately but the blaze was so huge that it could not be controlled by three fire brigade stations so all fire tenderers of the nearest towns were called in to put out the fire.
During fire-fighting, the building of the mills record room also collapsed. The loss could not be immediately ascertained, however, the estimate of losses to the tune of millions of rupees.
