Eight sisters fall victim to acid attack

Some unidentified person threw acid on eight daughters of a sweetmeat merchant in Village No 113/10-R (Jehanian) some 40-km south east of Multan on Saturday night when they were sleeping in the open-yard of their home.
Three of them, Iqra (12), Nasreen (14) and Muafia burnt seriously. However, other five sustained minor injuries.
"Someone climbed on the wall of Mohammad Anwar, sweet-maker, and threw acid on his daughters resultantly his three daughters badly hit and another five sustained minor injuries. We took an acid dealer Mohammad Aslam in our custody for interrogation, and he provided a clue, and we would soon arrest the culprit", said DPO Khanewal Dr Jamil Ahmed on Sunday.
Muhammad Anwar said: "I have reprimanded one Bilal Ahmed son of Falak Sher from eve-teasing because he was always seen on the top floor of his home for "pigeon-game" (Kabotar Bazi), while acid dealer Mohammad Aslam has also confirmed that Bilal had purchased acid from his shop, but Police appeared reluctant to arrest him."
Meanwhile, a mother of seven children, Subhan Mai (35) attempted to commit suicide by taking acid in her parents home on Sunday in Duniyapur some 45-mile south of Multan.
Subhan Mai, wife of Muhammad Sharif, of Village No 368/WB went to her parent's home after quarrelling with her husband. Where her parent's also rebuffed her. Then she took acid to kill herself.
She was hospitalised in critical condition where doctors are trying to save her life.
