As the "accountable manager" of PIA Engineering and Maintenance department, it gives me great pleasure to congratulate all my Chief Engineers, Managers Engineering, Aircraft Engineers, technicians and other personnel of the department on having achieved international certification through PART-145 approval from EASA.
This is, indeed, a tremendous achievement of which we should all be proud of. However, while we celebrate this event we should not forget that having achieved PART-145 approval is not the end of the story. The real work starts now. The onus in upon us to ensure that we retain our approval for all times to come.
We have demonstrated to the competent authorities not only that we possess the requisite professional expertise and skills, but also that we have a quality management system in place, which is practical and correct.
Furthermore, that we follow all required procedures for quality maintenance and airworthiness of aircraft.
It has been a long haul from implementation to certification. Our greatest achievements have been changing our work ethics and organisational culture, and overcoming our previous weaknesses in procedure compliance and documentation.
We must now go forward, and demonstrate our commitment to continual improvement, through firmly establishing our quality and safety policy.
Now that we are an acclaimed Maintenance Organisation and have PART-145 approval, we must prove to the world that we actually are the best.
With this approval, we should now immediately set our targets on becoming a revenue earning center for PIAC. Successful conclusion of a contract with "Fly Air" of Turkey to conduct heavy maintenance checks for nine of their aircraft (A300B 2/4), landing gears and engines is a good beginning.
I am confident that through our commitment and hard work we will, Inshallah, prove equal to the task.
