Pakistan is passing through the infancy stage regarding Information Technology (IT) Revolution, says Higher Education Commissioner (HEC) Chairman Professor Dr Atta-ur-Rahman.
He said in a statement, issued on Monday, it would take four to five years to meet the international standards in the field of the IT.
Dr Atta said the government should set up industrial states so that all software companies might be able to interact with one another frequently, and added the setting up of the software parks in the country was a step ahead in that regard.
Elaborating the on going activities of the government in promoting higher education, the HEC Chairman said that two satellites had been launched and 1,500 Ph.D scholarships were awarded on per annum basis.
Keeping in view the significance of the quality education, the HEC was therefore, focusing on the faculty development, he added.
To send people abroad and foreign faculty hiring programmes were further steps towards a better future, he said, adding thus entire emphasis was therefore, laid upon the need of producing quality professionals in the IT sectors.
