Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) will hold three dates shows at Mumbai, Dhaka and Jakarta from August 31 to September 10 to promote the exports of Pakistani fresh and dried dates.
According to EPB Director Mohammad Essa Jalbani here on Monday, 15 leading dates exporters will be selected for displaying dated at Pakistan Dates Show.
Besides women entrepreneurs, new exporters and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) will be given special consideration for space at the show, he added.
Pakistani delegation will leave Karachi on August 29 to take part in the shows.
He pointed out the first show would be held at Mumbai from August 31 to September 2, while the second show at Dhaka from September 4 to 5. Third show would be held at Indonesian capital Jakarta from September 7 to 10, he added.
Jalbani said that India offered huge potential for the export of dry and fresh dates, and with the normalisation of relations between the two neighbours, the chances for boosting the exports to India and other countries of Saarc region had brightened.
He said that Pakistan's export of dates to India was estimated at about 60,000 metric tonnes per annum.
Similarly, vast opportunities existed for the export of fresh and dried dates to Bangladesh and Far Eastern countries. This show will play a major role in boosting dates exports to these markets.
Jalbani said that Bureau would seek support of Pakistani missions in those countries for organising Pakistan Dates Shows.
