DCL to send list of its absentee members to election commission

District Council Lahore, in a meeting here on Monday, decided to submit list of its absentee members to Election Commission (EC) for unseating those who would remain absent from three consecutive meetings.
The District Council meeting was scheduled for Monday, but it could not be held due to lacking quorum. There was two-point agenda of the meeting ie seeking approval for enhancing parking fee and renaming of different city roads.
Speaker of the House, Naib Nazim Lahore, Farooq Amjad Meer had to adjourn the meeting on account of lacking quorum. As many as 59 members out of total 216 attended the meeting. The meeting was, even delayed for another one and half-hour of the scheduled time so as to enable the members to attend the meeting but quorum requirement could not be met.
However, Naib Nazim constituted a three-member committee comprising Javed Iqbal, Nuzhat Nazir and Nasir Khan Mayo. After thorough checking of record, committee would submit the list of absentee members to the Election Commission for necessary action against delinquents.
