Shanghai copper futures rebounded on Wednesday from a three-day losing streak, but further gains will be capped by a strong dollar, traders said.
Shanghai's most active contract, November, rose 130 yuan to 24,800 yuan ($2,995) a tonne, with almost all others climbing 80 yuan to 390 yuan. Volume dropped but remained active at 225,710 lots from Tuesday's 321,968 lots.
Spot copper in Shanghai fell slightly to move in a range of 26,800-26,900 yuan a tonne on Wednesday, in line with a fall in domestic futures in trade. Most Shanghai aluminium contracts ended 30 yuan to 90 yuan lower, with volume falling to 12,906 lots from Tuesday's 14,666 lots.
LME aluminium ended on Tuesday's kerb down $7.50 at $1,658 a tonne and traded at $1,661/$1,664 during on Wednesday's Asian trade.
