Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain on Friday said the government will not go for any legislation contrary to Islamic injunctions.
"The government is ensuring that any legislation in the house is made in accordance with the tenets of Islam," Shujaat said addressing the parliamentary party meeting.
Referring to amendments in Karokari law, the Prime Minister said, amendments in this law will be made in light of the teachings of the Holy Quran and the Sunnah.
He said bill to amend the Karokari law is being presented to the house and it will be ensured that amendments in this law are made after detailed discussion and active participation of the members from both the sides.
He said the bill will also be discussed by the Islamic Ideology Council as well as at the parliamentary party meeting.
Earlier, the members were briefed on the bill by the advisor to the Prime Minister, Nilofar Bakhtiar.
