The Sindh Education and Literacy Department on Friday set up nine committees to supervise free distribution of books among the children of government primary schools throughout the province.
The decision was taken under the directives of Sindh Education and Literacy Minister Dr Hamida Khuhro.
These committees would also investigate into complaints with regard to sale of the textbooks with submission of report to the authorities within one week.
The committee for Karachi is headed by Deputy Secretary (A&T) Mohammed Ali Mangrio along with district officer (AED) and deputy director Hussain Soomro (RM&E) as its members.
Sukkur and Ghotki districts' committee will have Saindad Solangi (Project Director DEEP) as its chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members.
Committee for Sanghar and Nawabshah districts will have Professor Muhammad Ilyas Soomro (director SEMIS) as chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members. Shikarpur and Jacobabad districts will have Raja Ghulam Hussain as its chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members. Larkana and Dadu Districts will have Manzoor Hussain Bhutto as its chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as its members. Khairpur and Nawshero Feroze districts will have Haji Sher Mohammed Soomro as chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members.
Committee for Badin and Thatta districts will have Dr Dur Mohammed Pathan as chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members, while Mirpurkhas and Mithi districts will have Latif Siddiqui as chairman and district officers (AED) of both the districts as members.
For Hyderabad district, PITE Director-General Dr Mehboob Sheikh has been appointed chairman and district officer (AED) and district officer colleges as members.
