Software developed for cattle data

Livestock Production Department of the University of Veterinary & Animal Sciences (UVAS) Lahore has developed a software 'SOFT BOS' for recording, processing and manipulation of cattle data.
The department teachers Professor Mohammad Abdullah, Masroor Elahi Babur and Mohsin Ali Asharaf gave presentations on the software at a ceremony at the 'varsity premises, with the VC Professor Dr Manzoor Ahmad as chief guest, according to a press release.Describing its salient features, they said the software was user-friendly and could store record of different categories of animals like calves, heifers, pregnant, lactating, dry animals and bulls.
Records include pedigree information, milk production, disease and treatment information, breeding and reproduction records of more than one livestock farms/stations.
Speaking on the occasion, the VC said that the development of the software was a healthy initiative. He said UVAS believed in practical application of knowledge and was making all efforts to transfer the benefits of new knowledge and research to small farmers, to enhance their livestock productivity.
