AGP directs departments to complete reconciliation process

Accountant General Punjab Wazir Ahmed Qureshi has directed all the provincial departments to complete reconciliation process of their expenditure and receipts accounts for the year 2003-04 by August 6.
The AGP has stopped payment of utility bills to all those departments which could not get reconciliation of their accounts even after passing one month of new fiscal.
This was disclosed in a meeting of special cell for reconciliation of the accounts held here on Sunday, chaired by the AGP.
There was no option left but to stop payments of the bills because the departments did not get reconciliation of most of their accounts despite sending reminders to them time and again, the AGP said.
He said that 32 percent of Rs 66 billion expenditures of the provincial departments has yet to get reconciliation.
Issuing schedule of the expenditures, which have not been reconciled so far, the AGP said that Punjab Public Service Commission Rs 33.5 million, Chief Minister Secretariat Rs 69.9 million, Social Welfare Department Rs 8.3 million, Labour Department Rs 10 million, Punjab Services Tribunal Rs 2.7 million, Food Department Rs 1 billion, Home Department Rs 3.18 billion, Industries Department Rs 1.5 billion, Co-operative Department Rs 24.4 million and Board of Revenue Rs 144.7 million.
Department of Information Rs 171.7 million, Public Health Department Rs 322 million, C&W Rs 766.3 million, Excise and Taxation Rs 19.3 million, Health Department Rs 3.36 billion, Environment Protection Department Rs 17.2 million, Agriculture Rs 1.12 billion, Management and Professional Development Department Rs 4.8 million, Law Department Rs 12.1 million, Governor Secretariat Rs 4.3 million, Zakat & Ushr Rs 0.6 million, S&GAD Rs 200.8 million, Livestock Rs 109.1 million, Punjab Assembly Rs 399.9 million, Education Department Rs 6.1 billion, Irrigation Department Rs 2.4 billion.
The AGP said that Information Technology, Provincial Ombudsman, Local Government Department, Chief Minister Inspection Team, Transport and Auqaf departments have got 100 percent conciliation of their expenditures.
Talking about the reconciliation of receipts, he said that the Board of Revenue Rs 94 million, Industries 39.5 million, Home Department 274 million, Irrigation Rs 165.7 million, Education Rs 41.3 million, Livestock Rs 59 million, High Court Rs 44.7 million, Public Health Department Rs 5.4 million C&W Rs 497.9 million, E&T Rs 311 million and Forest Department Rs 139.8 million receipts have not so far been reconciled.
The AGP has fixed separate days for different departments to get their record reconciled, he said and assured that record of each penny from the national exchequer would be maintained properly.
