SHC directs FIA to conduct probe according to law

Justice Amir Hani Muslim of High Court of Sindh (SHC) on Wednesday directed FIA officials to conduct investigations strictly according to law.
The bench directed Director FIA, Askari to circulate the orders of the Court to all FIA officials. The bench was seized with the hearing of a bail application moved by Malik Nazar, resident of Chakwal.
The applicant/accused was arrested by FIA while leaving for Vienna on a fake Belgian passport. The FIA sleuths found both visa and arrival/exit entries endorsed on the passport to be fake.
During hearing, the bench asked IO present in court: "How can you say that passport is fake?" The bench also asked whether the IO had examined the FIA officials regarding alleged forged and fake entries.
The IO submitted that he had sent letters to Belgian authorities and Pakistan Embassy for verification.
Regarding investigations in respect of fake entries, the IO said that at present he was conducting investigations in 80 cases and therefore could not record the statements of concerned FIA officials.
The court express annoyance over the reply. Mehmood Alam Rizvi, Standing Counsel, submitted that FIA conducted a 24-hour long investigations during which it was revealed that no record of alleged entries was found which proved that the same were fake and forged.
