A truck collided with an overloaded three-wheeled vehicle in China on Wednesday, killing 21 people and injuring five, Xinhua news agency reported.
The accident, in Wuqiang county in the northern province of Hebei, occurred before dawn, smashing the three-wheel vehicle carrying 24 people, it said.
Fourteen passengers were killed instantly and seven died of injuries at the hospital, it said.
China's roads are notoriously dangerous. Traffic accidents killed more than 100,000 people in China last year, almost 300 each day, due in part to soaring demand for cars, poor infrastructure and bad driving.
