Secretary General Karachi Division Pakistan Peoples Party Habibuddin Junaidi has called upon the government to review its welfare plans, which have failed to provide relief to the people who continue to suffer from hunger, unemployment and lack of shelter.
Addressing a meeting of the party workers on Thursday Junaidi said that sooner or later the government would have to face the "wrath of the people", who had tolerated enough of their empty promises.
He said that people were groaning under the soaring prices of daily use articles, prices of flour had gone up, employment had entered into double digit and shortage of housing had forced people to reside in shanty town and Katchi Abadis.
He said that Sindh was faced with acute water shortage and there was a danger of influx in great number. Agriculture labour was likely to move toward cities in search of employment.
He said that the government should come up with concrete water conservation projects. Because of the shortage of water many lakes were drying up and new crops were not being sown.
He said that if the shortage persisted there would be less agriculture production in the province.
Junaidi said that the present government had no justification for remaining in office.
He said that the PPP was united under the leadership of Benazir Bhutto, who is the symbol unity in Pakistan.
