Punjab Chief Minister, Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi presiding a meeting here on Thursday has said that a project of Sui gas, costing Rs 200 million for Muree and its suburb areas would soon be implemented, which would result in conserving the forests and maintaining natural habitat of the area.
He said that Sui gas facility would be extended to DHQ and THQ hospitals of southern Punjab as well as other backward areas of the province.
Chief Minister said that local population in Muree cutting trees for meeting the energy requirements due to which, environment pollution is rising, besides reduction in forests.
He said provision of Sui gas to Muree would promote tourism activity and improve quality of life of the people.
Chaudhry Pervaiz stated that provincial government has provided Rs 1.5 billion to Sui Gas Northern for completing 76 schemes in the province, out of which 8 schemes have been completed. Moreover, MD Sui Gas has been directed to implement 19 schemes to be undertaken in other cities of Punjab.
Chief Minister said that gas projects, under joint venture of provincial and federal governments for Bhawalnagar, Narowal, Bhakkar, Pakpattan, Rajanpur and Vehari are also under consideration. He said Sui Gas facility has been provided in 28 districts, whereas these schemes have been completed in Tehsils in Punjab, he added.
Senior General Manager Distribution Sui Gas, Arif Latif informed the meeting that federal government has released substantial resources for completing 20 schemes of Sui gas in the province.
