Iran to complete laying Kirman, Zahidan rail track soon

06 Aug, 2004

Iranian Railways authorities have assured Pakistan Railways (PR) high-ups that they would complete the laying of rail track between Kirman and Zahidan in next one and half years.
They said the Railway authorities of both the countries should start preparation to take benefit of new trade and economic opportunities emerging out of completion of this link.
According to a PR spokesman, this assurance was given by a three-member Iranian Railway delegation, led by Hamid Yar Mand, which met PR General Manager (Operations) Aurangzeb Khan and other high-ups here on Thursday.
The PR spokesman said that prior to their arrival in Lahore, the delegation members also held detailed meetings with PR Divisional Superintendent, Quetta, and other officers.
In Lahore, both sides held discussions on various important issues and came up with the consensus view that Pakistan and Iranian railways should be inter-linked to take advantage of trade and economic opportunities.
