US embassy sections in New Delhi reopen

The United States visa, consular and immigration offices in the Indian capital, which had been shut for a day due to security fears, would function normally Friday, the embassy said in a statement.
Public services including the American Centre Library in New Delhi were closed Thursday as police stepped up security around the US embassy.
"Those offices of the US Embassy that closed temporarily to the public on Thursday, August 5, will be open for normal business on Friday, August 6," an embassy statement posted on its website said.
The US embassy had attributed the closure to "security concerns." The US State Department said the closure was "in response to threat information that was received from law enforcement sources."
It came a few days after US authorities imposed a state of high alert on Washington, New York and other financial centres in the United States and bolstered security.
