Qazi hands over charge as envoy

Ambassador Ashraf Jahangir Qazi formally handed over charge of the office of Pakistan Ambassador to the United States, and is scheduled to leave here for New York on Saturday evening to take up the charge of his new assignment with the United Nations as special representative of the UN Secretary General (SRSG) for Iraq.
DCM Mohammad Sadiq will act as Charge d'Affaires.
Qazi is likely to take up his assignment as SRSG on Monday, whereafter, he will undertake visits of Baghdad and Amman. He became Pakistan Ambassador to the United States on September 25, 2002.
