No extension in RCCI membership enrolment

The Executive Committee of the Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) had turned down the request made by the some members for extension date of filling the income tax returns to the chamber saying that such members would not be eligible to cast their vote in forthcoming chamber's elections.
The unanimously decided that no step would be taken which was contrary to the Memorandum of Article of the chamber and instruction of the DTO.
The Executive Committee of the chamber met here with Hussain Ahmed Ozgen, President RCCI in chair. All the members of the Executive Committee were present in the extra-ordinary meeting which was summoned by president to discuss the pros and cons for the September 15 elections.
The meeting has decided that all the members of the chamber should submit the documents of income tax returns, renewal of the membership for being an eligible voter.
Hussain Ahmed Ozgen informed the participants of the meeting that some members had not so far produced the documents of the income tax returns. "These members are demanding extension in the date of election in order to give them time to take part in the elections", he said.
The participants of the meeting turned down this demand and it was observed in the meeting that no step would be taken which was contrary to the Memorandum of
Article of the chamber and instruction of the DTO.
The meeting unanimously agreed that the voter lists would be displayed on the date fixed, while the members who fail to submit the required documents would not be included in the list.
"It was unanimous decision of the Executive Committee to hold elections on September 15 and members who fulfil the requirements of membership would be eligible to cast their vote", said Hussain Ahmed Ozgen, President RCCI.
He said that delay or postponement of the election would result in various problems for the chamber, as it will be contrary to the memorandum of article, the constitution for the chamber.
"We will hold elections in a free, fair and transparent means and retire with honour", Ozgen said RCCI chief further said details of voter lists and other documents regarding election might be obtained from the chamber office.
