Five hydrants to be closed down: Naimatullah

The City District Government of Karachi (CDGK) has decided to close down five water hydrants functioning in the residential areas of Karachi.
"In the first phase the Sakhi Hassan and Gulshan-e-Iqbal hydrants would be shifted next month (September)," City Nazim Naimatullah Khan informed National Assembly Standing Committee on Local Government chairman Maulana Hamidul Haq Haqqani and other members of the committee while talking to them at his office on Friday.
The City Nazim said that the CDGK is making all possible efforts to solve civic problems of the city.
In this regard, he said twenty new roads were built under modern construction standard while priority is being accorded for early completion of flyovers.
He informed the standing committee that the CDGK can not alone initiate big projects by its own resources and efforts are being made to invite foreign investors.
Naimatullah Khan said construction of roads and water and sewerage system of industrial areas of Karachi including Landhi, Korangi and F.B. Areas would be improved.
He said plans are being prepared for establishment of water treatment plant in industrial areas.
The City Nazim called for including katchi abadi and other departments in the city government under Sindh Local Government Ordinance.
He suggested that appointment of teachers and land control department should also be under the purview of the city district government.
Naimatullah Khan informed that model parks are being built in eighteen towns of Karachi while 10 new colleges would be opened soon.
