Pakistan's Islamic identity beyond controversy: IIUI

International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) Rector Justice Khalil-ur-Rehman (Retd) on Monday said that Constitution clearly declares Islamic identity of Pakistan, and it is unconstitutional to make the ideology and Islamic identity of the country controversial.
He stated this while addressing a reception party in honour of Dr Mahmood Ahmed Ghazi on his appointment as the IIUI president. The ceremony was organised by the Dawah Academy of IIUI.
Addressing on the occasion, Justice Khalil said the uniqueness of our homeland is its Islamic identity and whosoever tries to create ambiguities in it are working against the Constitution.
Referring to the address of the first premier of the country, Nawabzada Liaquat Ali Khan in the first constituent assembly, Justice Khalil said it is repeatedly made clear by most of the leaders of Pakistan Movement that aim of creation of Pakistan is to prove and show the world that the remedy of present day worries and wounds of humanity is Islam.
He said the IIUI, its constituent bodies, and the Dawah Academy in particular is working for the objectives of Pakistan Movement.
Dr Mahmood Ahmed Ghazi thanked the participants of the ceremony, saying he will leave no stone unturned for the progress and prosperity of the University, its employees and students.
He appreciated the work of the Dawah Academy saying its effects are now being felt across the world, while the publications of the University are welcomed in international community of scholars and researchers.
It is an honour for the staff and employees of the University that with a very limited number of working staff, the University is doing excellent job in academics, training and research.
Earlier, Dawah Academy Director-General Dr Khalid Alavi, expressed his pleasure over the appointment of Dr Ghazi as IIUI president, saying the University employees have high expectations with Dr Ghazi.
He talked about issue relating to the Dawah Academy, and hoped that these issues will be settled during the dynamic leadership of Dr Ghazi.
