'LZB' marks auction fetches Rs 1 million

The Punjab government has fetched around Rs 1 million through open auction of attractive registration marks of 'LZB series' held here Tuesday.
The auction took place at the local registration office at Farid Kot House. Director Excise & Taxation Region-C Lahore, Chaudhry Shamim Ahmad, Motor Registration Authority, Lahore, Mian Ahmad Saeed and Superintendent Excise & Taxation Department Chaudhry Mohammad Saleem supervised the auction proceedings.
It may be mentioned that LZB series of registration marks was launched in Lahore for registration of commercial vehicles.
According to sources, in Excise & Taxation Department, out of a total of 136 attractive registration marks of LZB series, only 83 numbers were contested and total bid amount of Rs 957,500 was received.
The highest bids of Rs 50,000, Rs 40,000, Rs 21,500, Rs 21,000, Rs 28,000, Rs 31,000, Rs 25,000, and Rs 27,500 were received for LZB-1, LZB-786, LZB-2, LZB-3, LZB-5, LZB-7, LZB-8 and LZB-9, respectively.
