Greek sprinters leave hospital

18 Aug, 2004

Greek sprinters Costas Kenteris and Katerina Thanou, at the centre of a doping case dogging the Olympics, sped out of an Athens hospital on Tuesday, their first appearance in public for five days.
The two had been there since they were involved in a mysterious motorcycle crash shortly after missing dope tests on Thursday. They were driven out in separate cars about 45 minutes apart.
"It's a big injustice, I have never used banned substances - honestly," Kenteris, a gold medallist at the Sydney Games, told reporters swarming around his car as he left the hospital.
