Chairman National Commission for Human Development, Dr Naseem Ashraf, has called for establishing linkage between institutions and industry, apart from preparing the engineers and experts to meet future challenges.
He stated this while talking to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI) President, Mian Anjum Nisar, says a press release issued here on Wednesday.
Dr Naseem Ashraf maintained that promotion of education and health were need of the hour and commission had already initiated a number of projects in this connection. He said that their main focus was to improve literacy rate in women.
Speaking on this occasion, LCCI Chief, Mian Anjum Nisar called for paying special attention to enhance literacy rate in the country.
He said that only 1.80 percent of GDP had been allocated for education and 0.84 percent for health.
He also threw light on social services being extended by the Chamber through provision of funds to Shalimar Hospital, Hijaz Hospital and an NGO for rehabilitation of disabled.
