As if the military awards were not enough, the armed forces personnel are also being conferred civil awards on the occasion of Independence Day.
The list released in the press includes two generals in service and another retired who are to be awarded the most prestigious Hilal-i-Imtiaz, whereas four colonels and a brigadier would receive Sitara-i-Imtiaz.
The list also includes two brigadiers and a squadron leader to receive President's Award for Pride of Performance.
Another colonel, five majors and a retired captain are the recipient of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz. This is in addition to the army officers who have been awarded Sitara-i-Shujaat.
Military Awards, also announced on the eve of Independence Day, show that eleven generals would receive Hilal-i-Imtiaz(M), 26 brigadiers and 12 colonels Sitara-i-Imtiaz(M), whereas 42 lieutenant colonels and 18 majors are the recipients of Tamgha-i-Imtiaz(M), besides other categories of awards.
Will the decision-makers ever consider - just consider - a civilian Pakistani to be conferred a military award?
