Survival depends on economic betterment: Prime Minister

Prime Minister Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain Thursday said the governments in future would only survive on the basis of performance, economic development, poverty alleviation and creation of employment opportunities.
Addressing a large gathering at Khor Pakistan Oilfields Limited (POL), at the inauguration ceremony of a 33-bed POL hospital, he said the PML government was taking concrete measures to bring economic prosperity to the country.
He said the government was pursuing the dynamic economic policies of President General Pervez Musharraf to achieve economic stability in the country.
Shujaat said the results of economic success of the government have started trickle down to the grass roots level and in the days to come would help reduce the poverty. He said, remote areas of the country would be developed and brought at par with the rest of the country.
He assured that the government was working on a plan to bring basic facilities of life to the doorsteps of a common man.
He urged upon other oil and gas companies in the country to take up similar public welfare projects in the areas of their operation.
Shujaat was also appreciative of the people of the area for reposing confidence in Shaukat Aziz and for electing him to steer the country towards economic growth.
Minister for Petroleum Chaudhry Nouraiz Shakoor and District Nazim Attock Tahir Sadiq attended the event. Prime Minister Shujaat also laid the foundation stone for the POL Degree College.
The college would cater to the educational needs of students from the area, including 50 percent locals and the rest of the POL employees.
